• The official currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF) in Hungary. However you can pay with Euros at several places.
• The city of spas.  Budapest is a capital, which is rich in thermal waters. More than hundred thermal springs provide millions of litres of hot thermal water day by day.
• Budapest has quite a few interesting places, which are not frequented by tourists, because organised sightseeing tours don’t take them there. Get off the beaten path!
• The local food is delicious & definitely worth trying.
• Buda and Pest were once separate cities. Back in the day, Buda and Pest were two distinct cities sliced down the middle by the river Danube. Buda, traditional home of royalty, castles and Elven-style fortresses, sits on the hilly west; while Pest, a commercial hub now bustling with city slickers, hotels and hip ruin bars (more on these later), is on the east.
• Keep an eye on the taxi fare! Same situation for every backpacker, some taxi drivers will try to rip you off. Always take a note of the fare per kilometer.
• The view from Gellert is way better than from Buda Castle.
• Drinking on the streets is technically illegal. But the police don’t particularly enforce this law either.
